The University of Chicago: Graduate Studies

Financing Your Education: Your Guide to FAFSA-based Aid

These webinars, hosted by UChicagoGRAD's Graduate Admissions Office, will cover the basics of the types of aid available to graduate students based on the FAFSA. If you do not plan to apply for loans (e.g. you are a Ph.D. student or have outside funding), or are not eligible to submit a FAFSA, there is no need to attend this session. Information about student employment will be available to all students over the summer.

In this session, we'll cover:
  • Types of funding at UChicago: Scholarships vs. "financial aid"
  • Submitting the FAFSA: No parent/guardian information required
  • Types of FAFSA-based aid for graduate study: Work-Study and student loans
  • A brief overview of loan types
  • Student employment: Finding a job on campus (with or without Work-Study)

Additional sessions will be added over the summer. All times are displayed in Chicago (U.S. Central) time.
